Crash On Planet Lumo

Build and fight off aliens in this top-down shoot-em-up, base builder. Fix the ship and fight off the alien bots.

Controls

E - to interact with the control panels as well as selecting menu items
Arrow Keys - for movement and selecting items in menus
W - dash
Q - shoot but you need arllixium to shoot.
1 - to change weapon (Who knows why I would add a second weapon :/)

Game Play

Head Over to the pre-built drill and start making resources, build a converter on one of the plots and convert the resources from the drill to arllixium. Fix the ship. Make Sure you have enough arllixium to fight with.

Post Mortem

Being my first game jam that was longer than 3 days, I assumed that I had enough time to fit in lots of features. I ended up going overboard; going beyond what I can currently manage. I had to make art, sound and code for all the systems in the game and realised very late that I had way to much to do with very little time remaining. Naturally I went into panic mode. Fortunately I did not give in and give up on the game jam, instead I focused on making the game some-what playable bugs and all.

While this game is not my most complete or well balanced; it is my most complex game as of writing this. The underlying systems were well planned. The art looked good and I even added music and some sounds; which is a step above my last game. 

Coming out of this game jam I've learned a few valuable skills and the most import being the I should always make design docs for my games (in the past I would just go straight into coding and end up having to hack everything together). I still need to work on my time management though.

I'm making good progress on my game making journey but I definitely still have quite a long way to go till I'm satisfied :D.  Till then I will work hard to improve and learn more.

To myself: Step by step you're getting there. Well done.
